10 WEEKS OF CLASSES - 20 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION

Here are a few things to be aware of:

1.) We have changed our “CORE Dance, “CORE Voice,” and “CORE Drama” classes to be “Foundations of…” classes. They are still our CORE CLASSES that serve as prerequisites for continuing on to other classes. If you have taken M100, V100, and/or D100 in the past, your prerequisite for the appropriate series has been met. 

2.) Classes listed with a * have prerequisites.  Please read the class description for details before registering.

3.)  We have taken big strides towards further developing our 100-level classes so as to really lay a solid educational foundation for 200-level classes and beyond. If you have a question as to whether you meet the prerequisites for a class you’d like to take, please email the Cornerstone Artistic Director:  Stephanie Orr at  s.orrcytcentralalberta@gmail.com

4.) Remember to list your second choice of class!

Families - there is a mandatory information meeting on the first day of class for your student and an accompanying adult.    Meeting is from 4:30 to approx. 5:30 - Students are dismissed to class at about 5....adults remain for a friendly Q&A.

TUESDAY CLASSES

Little Rascals  (ages 6-7)

two hour class 4:30 to 6:30
Teacher:    Stephanie Orr
This high-energy class introduces children to the fundamentals of theater, using songs, drama games, skits, and theater fun. It is designed to build self-confidence, practice working in a group setting, and stimulate imagination.
This age group is not eligible to audition for this session’s production.


Broadway Babies  (ages 4-5)
ONE hour class 4:30 to 5:30
Teacher:    Stephanie Orr
Tiny performers will have a blast singing, dancing, and moving as they explore theater appropriate to their age level.  Our youngest actors discover movement, performance confidence, music, and dancing while building creativity and imagination through games and activities.
This age group is not eligible to audition for this session’s production.


Foundations of Drama
D100 (ages 8-18) 
Teacher:

THIS CLASS WILL BE OFFERED IN JANUARY 2017
Learn the basics of drama and acting this creative course. From theater history to improv, this class is designed to give you a basic foundation of the world of drama.
*Students are exempt from this class upon verification of Drama 10 credit


Foundations of Voice
V100 (ages 8-18)
Teacher: 

THIS CLASS WILL BE OFFERED IN JANUARY 2017
This dynamic beginning voice class will cover all elements of good singing techniques. Students will receive training in how to use their voices correctly and how to have a confident audition. Emphasis will be placed on proper breathing and support. This important class is for everyone who has ever wanted to sing correctly and well!
*Students are exempt from this class upon 6 months of private vocal instruction

Foundations of Drama   D100  (ages 8-18)

Learn the basics of drama and acting in this creative course. From theater history to improv, this class is designed to give you a basic foundation of the world of drama.

Advanced Foundations of Drama   D100 (Ages 14-18)   (Younger students who have taken all 3 foundations classes may also be enrolled by request)

Foundations of Dance  M100   (ages 8-18)
Teacher
Learn the fundamentals of tap and jazz. Get ready to get up and move! This class will introduce the student to movement for theater. Basic jazz moves and beginning rhythm will be emphasized. Students will learn how to get through a dance callback, even if they aren't seasoned dancers.  Jazz and tap shoes are beneficial but not mandatory.
*Students are exempt from this class upon verification of 6 months of studio dance lessons

**Monologues and Effective Speaking   (ages 8-18)
Prerequistes:  Foundations of Drama and Foundations of Voice
Teacher : Damian LaGrange
A good monologue, (or a good speech)  can often mean the difference between a “Thank you . . . Next” and a call back (or getting the job!)  This drama class studies the art of delivering monologues, learning to choose the right piece and honing your skills for standing alone as you give either a speech or a monologue.

***Melodramatic Musical Theater -
A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder    
(ages 8-18)
Prerequiste:  Foundations of Drama, Dance, and Voice
T eacher   : Ashley Miller

Audiences of the nineteenth century were wild about the newest stage shows -  melodramas! This class will take you back to the days of Monty Navarro and stock character heros and villians. Learn musical theater fundamentals the fun way and experience a little theater history while you’re at it. A great way to study theater. “My hero"


*Ballet Workshop  
(ages 8-18)
Prerequistes:  Foundations of Dance
Teacher: Victoria McGill
Ready for a challenge? This class will be sure to keep your mind and body active from start to finish! Put your knowledge, skills and eye for precision to the test. You’ll learn classical steps like glissades, assembles, pas de chevals, and tour jetes,    Ballet classes teach the students technique while enhancing their overall dance form.  
It is the basis for all dance forms. Students will learn balance, flexibility, strength and the development of
body awareness. All levels will learn ballet terminology and exercises. Everyone should take ballet!
